April 24, 2019—Google Maps now features electric vehicle charging stations in both the U.S. and U.K., Popular Mechanics reports. While searching, users are informed where a station is location and whether it is in use.
"If you’ve ever driven to an electric vehicle (EV) charging station only to find that all ports are occupied," Google product manager Alex Donaldson said in a blog post, according to Popular Mechanics. "You know that you could end up waiting in line for anywhere between minutes to hours—which can really put a damper on your day when you have places to go and things to do."
Users can type in "ev charging stations," where they the availability of nearby stations. Additionally, stations are accompanied by photos, reviews, as well as a question section for users.
