April 16, 2019—Aston Martin unveiled its first electric vehicle. The Verge reports that the "Rapide E" had its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show following the automakers announcement about the vehicle four years ago.
Only 155 "Rapide E" vehicles will be created, and the price was not listed by the company, according to The Verge.
The "Rapide E" can travel up to 200 miles on a single charge, according to the publication, and can reach top speeds up to 155 miles per hour. According to Aston Martin, the vehicle can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in under four seconds, and the vehicle's batter can be recharged at the rate of 310 miles per hour.
The vehicle was part of a 2015 announcement during a period in which the company underwent budget cuts which resulted in hundreds of employee layoffs. The EV was supposed to hit the road in 2018, but LeEco—a chinese tech conglomerate who was Aston Martin announced would build the vehicle in 2016—pulled out of the deal in 2017.
