Automotive Instructor Recognized for Excellence

Mark Simmons is an automotive and diesel technology instructor at Springfield High School in Oregon. 

Oct. 6, 2022—An automotive teacher in Oregon has received major recognition.

According to KEZI 9 News, Mark Simmons is an automotive and diesel technology instructor at Springfield High School. He was one of the winners of the Harbor Freight Tools for School Prize for Teaching Excellence award.

Simmons was presented with a $50,000 check during a surprise ceremony on Oct. 4, 2022. Not only do students gain valuable skills from the classes Simmons teaches, but they also have an opportunity to gain reliable transportation. 

According to KEZI 9 News, Simmons has sold cars to students at salvage prices and helped them fix up the vehicles. 

In all, Harbor Freight Tools gave $1.25 million in prizes to 20 skilled trades teachers around the country.
