Northwood University has announced the addition of James O’Dell to its staff as the assistant director of aftermarket education, according to a press release.

Since 2019, O’Dell has served as the business development manager for Fisher Auto Parts in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His addition is part of an effort by the university to expand and strengthen automotive aftermarket education.

As part of this effort, Northwood also introduced Dr. Thomas Litzinger as the executive director of the University of the Aftermarket. Litzinger brings over 30 years of experience in executive leadership positions and has published studies concerning the aftermarket industry.

“Dr. Litzinger and James O’Dell are industry professionals with diverse experience and skills to lead aftermarket education,” Kristin Stehouwer, academic vice president and provost of Northwood University said.

O’Dell said that there are many new opportunities emerging within the field and that Northwood’s aftermarket program is “truly unique in the country.”

“It inspires human potential through education and opportunity which uniquely prepares its students to make a difference and be successful,” O’Dell stated. “This is evident in that nearly one hundred percent of Northwood aftermarket graduates are employed–and their average salary is nearly $63,000.”
