New York Auto Shop Celebrates National Dog Day by Supporting Local Shelter
An auto repair shop in Auburn, New York, took National Dog Day to a new level by helping out a local shelter.
Sholar Automotive shared in a recent press release that it sponsored a kennel area at the Greater Cayuga SPCA to celebrate National Dog Day, which was on Aug. 26. The kennel sponsorship is part of the Greater Cayuga SPCA's Partners in Compassion program, which allows community supporters to sponsor a specific animal or animal housing area.
Owner Steve Sholar said he knows how important animals are to the people he serves as customers. Wanting to do something more for National Dog Day than a simple social media post, he was motivated to have an impact that would help his local community.
“We work on our customers' vehicles every day, and we know how much people care about their families,” said Sholar. “For a lot of people, their dog is a member of that family. We wanted to do something that would directly help animals in our own community.”
