Jan. 29, 2019—An Iowa auto repair shop plans to hold a fundraising event for an employee who is currently battling cancer. According to the Des Moines Register, Shade Tree Auto, of Grimes, Iowa, is hosting "Adam's Warriors Grand Prix," a go-kart fundraising event on Feb. 7 for Adam Dreeszen, the shop's employee.
According to the Des Moines Register, Dreeszen was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer in spring 2018. Shade Tree Auto owner, Clint Dudley, told the Register that Dreeszen's treatment made him unable to work for days at a time.
"The poor guy has lost a lot of weight and is not feeling well," Dudley said to the Des Moines Register. "He never complained. He got married last fall and made sure he rearranged his treatments to do so. That’s the kind of guy he is."
The event was inspired to help finance his medical bills as well as highlight Dreeszen's love of go-karts, Dudley said to the Register.
"He’s a great guy, and we want to support him here at work," Dudley said to the Register.
