July 14, 2014—Anderson Automotive, an eastern Iowa–based repair shop, announced last week that nominations are open for its Wheels to Prosper event, in which the shop sells a vehicle for $1 to a local resident who has been impacted by the economic downturn.
Jim Anderson, who owns Anderson Automotive, has been doing the event since 2009, when he first called it Wheels of Change. Today, he’s partnered with the national giveaway program, Wheels to Prosper. The national program has more than 30 participating repair shops who also give away a vehicle each year.
The winner of Anderson’s giveaway is chosen through nominations from community members who write a letter explaining why someone they know deserves to win the vehicle up for grabs. This year, the shop will sell a 2004 Buick Regal LS.
The ideal winner will be someone who is always looking out for others, according to a company press release. The winner will be announced and the car will be awarded on July 26th at noon at Anderson Automotive in Marion, Iowa.
