Industry Leader Don Seyfer Passes Away
June 8, 2020—One of the Automotive Management Institute's (AMi) founders and longtime owner of Seyfer Automotive, Don Seyfer, passed away on June 3 in Wheat Ridge, Colo., according to a press release.
Seyfer was involved with the creation of the nonprofit organization in 1989 and was an early financial contributor. He was also one of the first to earn the Automotive Management Institute's "Accredited Automotive Manager" (AAM) professional designation and was known to encourage many others to achieve the respected designation. Seyfer was also an ASA board member and chairman throughout his automotive career.
Seyfer actively supported STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) learning programs in Jefferson County as a means to grow the next generation of technicians, engineers, problem solvers, and program managers. There will be a car parade honoring Don Seyfer on Wednesday, June 10 at 9:30 a.m. leaving Seyfer Automotive/Specialties at 4501 Harlan St. in Wheat Ridge, Colo., according to an email from Seyfer's son, Donny Seyfer. Additional parking at Walmart across the street from the shop will be provided for those attending.
He is survived by his wife, Margie, who is an AMi-accredited instructor and his son, Donny, also an AMi instructor and board of trustees.
