N.C. Repair Shop Goes Solar

Oct. 6, 2014

Oct. 6, 2014—Discovery Automotive in Cary, N.C., has made the switch to solar power.

Opened in 2005, the luxury auto repair shop recently underwent a transformation that allows the entire business to run on solar energy, according to a report in the Triangle (N.C.) Business Journal.

Dave Lipman of Discovery Automotive recently installed a 17-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system on the roof of the shop. The system will produce enough energy to offset nearly 100 percent of Discovery’s needs, equivalent to burning roughly 39,686 gallons of gasoline. It is reported to power virtually everything that requires electricity throughout the shop.
