MAHLE and Midtronics, Inc. have announced an agreement to create service equipment for electric vehicle batteries together.

MAHLE and Midtronics, Inc. have announced an agreement to create service equipment for electric vehicle batteries together, according to a press release.

Having signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MAHLE brings expertise in “refrigerant service, ADAS calibration, BatteryPRO solutions and vehicle diagnostics,” with Midtronics specializing in “Low and High Voltage battery monitoring, inspection, diagnostics, and service.”

The collaboration will seek to produce tools for independent shops to perform work on Li-on batteries, regardless of the brand or age of the battery or vehicle. This can include battery diagnostics and maintenance.

“Because of the speed of change in battery and electric vehicle technology, no company in the automotive service world is ready,” stated Midtronics President Will Sampson. “This collaboration brings two leaders together to make it faster and easier for the aftermarket to transition to electric vehicle service.”
