Texas has decided again to postpone a vote on the use of federal funds for building electric vehicle chargers, Reuters reports.

The state recently announced plans to require Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) to be used for state-funded EV chargers alongside the Combined Charging System (CCS).

This was followed by some resistance from EV charger makers and operators, who claimed time is needed to test the functionality of CSS and NACS working alongside each other. 

The vote on funds had originally been postponed from June 29 to this past Tuesday after three members of Texas' transport commission felt that more time was needed before they could vote on the issue.

The vote has now been rescheduled again, this time to August 16. According to a spokesperson with the Texas Department of Transportation, the issue was removed from the July agenda “at the discretion of the commissioners.”

“We do think the reason why this decision is being punted is there is reaction within the industry that this is a big announcement and let's just do this responsibly,” an EV charging company executive told Reuters.
