ASE Calls on Automotive Industry to Support Accredited Training Programs

ASE President and CEO Dave Johnson shared that some states are beginning to doubt the purpose accredited programs serve.

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is calling on the auto industry to support accredited training programs in the face of some states questioning the importance of them.

In a statement sent out by ASE President and CEO Dave Johnson, he underscores what ASE accredited programs offer to the industry, and follows this with the claim that some states are beginning to doubt the purpose they serve.

“The ASE Education Foundation works closely with career technical education (CTE) directors and transportation directors in each state to ensure that automotive service technology programs remain accredited. Unfortunately, some states are reevaluating the need for accreditation,” Johnson said.

It’s prompted the organization to call on everyone in the industry to make an active effort to get involved with their local automotive, collision, and truck automotive programs and help solidify the crucial role they play in preparing individuals to enter the workforce and continually improve.

“With new and ever-changing vehicle technologies, and the growing need for well-trained technicians, now is the time to recognize and reestablish its importance,” wrote Johnson.
