Austin Community College Unveils New Automotive Technology Facility in Round Rock, Texas
Austin Community College recently celebrated the opening of a new Automotive Technology facility within its campus in Round Rock, Texas, according to a report from Community Impact.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Oct. 8 for the facility, which is one of multiple other expansions in the works, including an advanced manufacturing facility set to open on campus next year.
Automotive Technology students gain training in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting automotive equipment—skills that were highlighted during the opening ceremony as being in high demand throughout Central Texas.
In addition, during the ceremony State Rep. John Bucy III shared that the facility will accommodate the state’s only electric vehicle maintenance program.
"The timing on this couldn't be better," Bucy said. "The automotive industry is changing rapidly. Technology is becoming more sophisticated. Electric vehicles are becoming a larger part of the market and employers need technicians who are prepared to work with vehicles and systems of the future. ACC is responding to that demand."
