Jan. 9, 2013

Jan. 9, 2013—The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) seeks to attract youth to the automotive industry with its eighth annual Education Day on Jan. 23, 2013 at the Cobo Center in Detroit.

Students of all ages will be able to view over 500 new vehicles and explore auto-related fields of study, according to a NAIAS press release_notes.

Technological education is a primary focus of this year’s Education Day. The National Defense Education Program and STARBASE One, a Department of Defense youth program, will offer workshops for select high school students with interests in science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) education.

“Let's face it, STEAM education is vital to our domestic automotive industry," Jim Seavitt, NAIAS 2013 chairman, said in a statement. “It’s one of the many aspects that students an explore at this unique educational even, and NAIAS is pleased to provide this opportunity to our community of young people.”
