April 25, 2022—As electric vehicles make their way into the market, shop owners need to do three things to ensure preparedness install chargers, upgrade equipment, and train techs.

Chargers should be added a few at a time over the next decade and in some cases will require an electrician to provide upgrades to handle the additional load.

The CBT News blog recommends shops purchase the right equipment to service EVs and consider where they’ll store batteries.

Lastly, it recommends getting techs trained (and eventually certified as credentials become available.)

While the post cites these as things dealerships should do to prepare for EVs, independent auto repair shops can heed the same advice for a successful transition by 2035.
