Feb. 25, 2020—Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Fla., is helping with the technician shortage with its automotive technology program, boasting a 100 percent job placement rate for graduates, reports FOX 13.
With the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics saying the automotive industry needs an average of 76,000 new employees every year for the next decade to offset demands for new openings, auto repair shops are wondering how they'll find enough help.
Through the program, however, repair shop managers hire students part time in hopes of keeping them on board after graduation as full-time technicians.
