Dec. 30, 2020—After a series of costly repairs, the team at Christian Brothers Automotive in Virginia Beach surprised a customer in need with a new car, reports WAVY TV 10.
Customer George Wiggins had brought his nearly 30-year-old truck to the shop in the past and was diligent in making monthly payments to cover the repairs. The truck had also been Wiggin's home for the past few years, until he was able to secure an apartment this past March. A local church donated a mattress and the shop also recently bought Wiggins sheets and bedding.
In September, when Wiggins encountered more trouble with the truck, an entirely new engine was needed and instead of repairing the truck, the shop opted to surprise Wiggins with a new car.
"We just thought the best thing to do was try to get him a different car," owner Kirk Linahan told the outlet.
A couple months later, Wiggins was told the truck was ready to be picked up. “We handed him the keys and he was pretty speechless,” Linahan added. “He didn’t know what to say.”
“I couldn’t thank them enough, because, you know, who does that?” Wiggins said.. “To give you a car like this that’s in perfect condition is a blessing.”
