Market From the Inside

Advertisement for the company starts inward, not outward.

Advertisement doesn’t have to be an ad on the radio, or a commercial on television—it can be the impact your staff member leaves on a customer after their appointment. To make sure his employees are ready to go for the day, Matthew Roayaee, shop owner of Auto Check Elite in Katy, Texas, has invested in three coffee machines throughout his shop: one for customers, one for technicians, and one upstairs.

“Coffee is a big part of our business,” Roayaee says. “Nobody’s drowsy [and] it’s important for me that they walk straight, have a big smile on their face, and everybody is ready [and awake].”

When staff members are energized and in good spirits, it leaves an impact on the customer. At the end of the day, Roayaee focuses on ways he can continue to improve the culture of his shop or further provide for the business.

At the end of the work day, Roayaee finds that he’s had some of the best conversations with his employees in his office. In Roayaee’s office, he has a keg where employees are welcome to have a glass of beer at the end of the day.

“I’ve learned so much from my guys after 6:00 p.m.,” Roayaee says. “When they’re cleaned up after six and they’re just drinking a cup of beer, they unwind and relax.”

The interaction has brought the staff closer together, Roayaee says.

When you take care of your employees, you become a company that your staff members want to continue to work for.
